School Day
School Day
Our school day begins at 9:00 am and ends at 1:40 pm for Junior and Senior Infants, while all other classes finish at 2:40 pm. We have a small break from 10:50 am to 11:00 am and lunch from 12:45 pm to 1:15 pm.
Regular school attendance is essential for every child's learning and development. Being present each day helps students stay engaged with their lessons, build strong social connections, and maintain a steady learning routine. If your child is absent, it is vital that you inform the school by emailing us at office@rockmountns.ie. This helps us keep accurate attendance records and ensures we are aware of the reason for your child's absence. We appreciate your cooperation in supporting your child's education.
Hot Lunch Scheme
Our school participates in the Hot Lunch Scheme, with meals provided by our supplier The Lunchbag. Parents can choose from a variety of hot meal options in advance using an easy-to-use app, ensuring that each child enjoys a hot, nutritious meal at lunchtime. The children love this part of their day! This scheme is funded by the Department of Social Protection, so there is no cost to parents for the hot meals. Lunch is served during our lunch break. Parents are required to give 48 hours notice (via the app) if they wish to cancel a lunch for their child. To prevent food waste, we encourage parents to cancel their child’s lunch if they know they will be absent.
Birthdays
At Rockmount, we love to celebrate birthdays! To make the day special, pupils receive no homework on the evening of their birthday. However, we kindly ask that you avoid sending in treats or cakes, as not all children can enjoy them due to dietary requirements, which can lead to disappointment. If your child is handing out birthday invitations in school, please ensure there is one for everyone in the class. We understand this may not always be possible, so if not, please arrange for invitations to be distributed outside of school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
